Connection with A/V Cables: Higher quality signals can be recorded with the three-prong Audio/Video cables that come with the Zenith DTT901. If your VCR is already connected to the TV with a set of A/V cables, then leave it connected.
If your VCR supports Audio/Video inputs, just plug the RED connector to the right audio jack on the back of the VCR, and do the same with the WHITE connector for the left audio signal jack. The YELLOW connector carries the onscreen video signal and plugs into the video jack on the VCR. Connect all three A/V cables to the converter box: RED connector goes to right audio, WHITE connector goes to left audio, and YELLOW connector is for the video signal. Make sure the TV antenna is also connected to the converter box. Turn on your VCR and TV (tuning the TV to Channel 3 or 4) to make sure the proper input is selected on the VCR. Digital TV signals from the converter box will be coming to the VCR on the A/V input. The source for VCR recording is now the converter box.
Follow the setup instructions for the converter box (photo K) and remember to disable the "auto power off" function of the converter box to insure that recording isn't interrupted. You can change the "auto power off" selections on the "Options" menu of the converter box.
The VCR cannot control the channels on the converter box, so you'll need to manually tune the converter box to whatever channel you want to record and leave it turned on to provide a signal to the VCR.
Should you want to watch one program and record another, you'll need two converter boxes to provide signals and the more advanced connection instructions are available HERE from the Federal Communications Commission.
