Connection with Coaxial Cable: If your VCR is already connected to the TV with a coaxial cable, then leave it connected. The familiar coaxial cable will also bring audio and video signals from the converter box to your VCR over one connection.
Just plug one end of the coaxial cable that came with the Zenith DTT901 into the "To TV (RF)" jack on the back of the converter box and plug the other end into the "Antenna In" or "Cable In" jack on the VCR. Make sure the TV antenna is also connected to the converter box. Turn on your VCR and make sure it is tuned to either Channel 3 or 4 (this varies by local market.) Turn on your TV to make sure it is also tuned to either Channel 3 or 4, to see on the screen what is coming out of the VCR. The source for VCR recording is now the converter box.
Follow the setup instructions for the converter box and remember to disable the "auto power off" function of the converter box to insure that recording isn't interrupted. You can change the "auto power off" selections on the "Options" menu of the converter box.
The VCR cannot control the channels on the converter box, so you'll need to manually tune the converter box to whatever channel you want to record and leave it turned on to provide a signal to the VCR.
Should you want to watch one program and record another, you'll need two converter boxes to provide signals and the more advanced connection instructions are available HERE from the Federal Communications Commission.
